Agents
Drive AnimSpark from your coding agent
Connect Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, WorkBuddy or Devin to the Mac app once, then make and edit films from that agent while AnimSpark shows every change.
Your coding agent can make films with AnimSpark. It writes and edits the film's source with its own tools, on its own plan; AnimSpark gives it narration, sound, music, images, video clips, previews and checks, and the Mac app shows the film as it changes.
Connect once
Connecting is one click in the Mac app. No commands to paste.
Open the Mac app
Download AnimSpark for Mac, sign in, and open any project.
Open Third-party agents
Click the agent button at the top right of the project. The Third-party agents popover lists Claude Code and Codex, with Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, WorkBuddy and Devin under More agents.
Press Connect
Press Connect next to your agent. AnimSpark adds itself to that agent's settings, together with a pairing key so the agent is let in without another prompt, and the button turns to Connected. If the agent isn't installed on your Mac, AnimSpark tells you; install it and try again.
Start a new chat in your agent
A dialog, {agent} is connected, tells you what to do next, for example Open Claude Code and just say what you want or Reopen Codex, start a new chat and just say what you want, with a few example requests. It shows Waiting for {agent} to connect… until your agent arrives, then {agent} is connected. You can start. Press Got it to close it.
A grey dot next to Connected means the agent is set up; green means it's attached to AnimSpark right now. Hover the button and choose Disconnect to remove AnimSpark from that agent.
Then just say what you want
In your agent, in your own words:
- “Create a 20-second product intro in AnimSpark, dark background.”
- “Open my latest AnimSpark project, shorten the opening caption, then show me the result.”
- “Add narration to the second shot, a calm male voice.”
It can also work from anything on your Mac: point it at a folder of notes, screenshots or footage and it reads them with its own tools.
What your agent can do
Once connected, the agent has AnimSpark's tools:
| Area | What it can do |
|---|---|
| Projects | Open the project that's open in the app (or a folder), list your projects, create a new one |
| Look and check | See the film as a contact sheet or a single frame, see its sound as a loudness chart, check that it builds, and publish a passing version to the app's preview |
| Your context | Read the playhead and whatever you've picked into the message box in the app |
| Voice | Find voices, record narration, transcribe audio and video into word timings, translate subtitles |
| Sound and music | Make sound effects and music |
| Images | Search for images, generate them, cut out a subject |
| Video | Generate a video shot (always asks you first) |
| Ask you | Ask you a question with a few options |
It edits the project's files with its own file tools, so the film's source is plain files in the project folder. Web searches and reading pages happen with the agent's own tools.
Media quality
The popover's Media quality setting decides how good the media your agent asks for is:
| Tier | What you get |
|---|---|
| Standard | Library sound and music, draft images and video clips. Cheapest. |
| High | Natural voices, custom sound and music, sharp images and video. |
| Best | The best voice, image and video models. |
High and Best are on paid plans; on the Free plan they show a lock.
Credits and approvals
- Your agent's own thinking runs on its own plan (your Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor subscription and so on).
- Narration, sound, music, images and video run on AnimSpark's servers and spend your credits.
- Each agent session has a credit allowance. When it's used up, AnimSpark shows {agent} has used its credit allowance with how much it has spent. Choose Allow {n} more to let it continue, or Deny.
- Video clips always ask first, with an estimate: {agent} wants to generate a video clip.
Troubleshooting
- The agent doesn't see AnimSpark. Keep the Mac app running, then start a new chat or session in your agent (some agents need a restart to pick up new settings).
- Connect doesn't finish. Read the popover's message: if the agent isn't installed on this Mac, install it and press Connect again.
- It stopped to ask about credits. That's the session's credit allowance. Choose Allow {n} more to let it keep going.
Advanced: set it up by hand
The Connect button is the recommended way. If you manage your agent's settings yourself, these are the entries it writes, pointing at the Mac app's local engine, minus the pairing key.
Without the pairing key, the first time the agent connects AnimSpark asks Allow {agent} to connect? It can read and change the projects you open in AnimSpark and spend your credits on media. Choose Allow to trust the agent for 30 days, Allow once for just this time, or Deny.
